Boston 1 @ Ottawa 1 (OT) (Ottawa led best-of-three series 1-0)

Jimmy "Sailor" Herbert opened the scoring for the Bruins at 7:14 of the 1st period, but the Senators tied the game with 4:45 remaining in the 2nd period when King Clancy passed to Cy Denneny, who scored. Boston goalie Tiny Thompson and Ottawa goalie Alex Connell didn't allow any further scoring through the 3rd period and two 10-minute overtime periods at Ottawa Auditorium, which was all the overtime that National Hockey League President Frank Calder would allow. After the first game had ended in a tie, Mr. Calder had ruled that the series would go a maximum of five games, and that the teams would share the championship if they were still tied at that point.

Terrorism
Two bombings in Algiers killed 33 people and wounded 222 others.

Abominations
Charges were dropped by North Carolina Attorney General Roy Cooper against three former Duke University lacrosse players who had been falsely accused of raping stripper Crystal Mangum, a Negress, who had performed at a team party on March 13, 2006. Ms. Mangum's DNA didn't match that of any of the white players on the team, but that didn't stop Durham County District Attorney Mike Nifong, anxious for Negro support in the upcoming election, from continuing the prosecution. The abomination was not only in the fact that the names of the accused were widely publicized while the accuser's name was not originally mentioned, but that the prosecution continued despite the results of the DNA test, and in Ms. Mangum getting away with her false accustions. I suspect the reluctance to prosecute Ms. Mangum was out of fear of protests from women or Negroes.
