Dr. and Mrs. Hardin were members of End-of-Life Choices, formerly known as the Hemlock Society. He was suffering from a heart disorder and Mrs. Hardin, 81, had amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and they committed suicide together in their home in Santa Barbara, California, shortly after their 62nd wedding anniversary.
